MEET THE MAKER:
BASS AND FLINDERS DISTILLERY
Maker and Managing Director Holly Klintworth relocated Bass and Flinders Distillery to the Dromana Habitat in 2018, nine years after her father founded the Red Hill business.
Moving for more space accommodated a groundswell in quality, local spirits – particularly artisanal gins, brandies and liqueurs. But the family business continued to nurture its unbound passion for discovery; and for craft spirits that proudly breathe Mornington Peninsula heritage.
Where gin is commonly distilled using a neutral spirit, Holly and her team handcraft spirits from scratch in small batches using their Méthode eau de Vie technique – the distillation of Victorian wine into spirit – allowing for a more flavoursome, smooth spirit, full of character.
Exploring freshly-sourced, native ingredients, and distinct botanicals that capture the essence of local flora, Bass and Flinders beautifully marry modern Australian flavours with traditional Charente distillation techniques used by the finest French brandy producers.
